KNOWING JESUS

Learn About Jesus

God created you to be in perfect relationship with Him, but our sins fracture that relationship and separate us from Him. We can only be forgiven and reconciled back to God through a relationship with His Son, Jesus Christ. We want to help you learn more about what Jesus has done for you and how He wants to be part of your life.

CREATION & SEPARATION

God made the world and He created humanity. Man was in relationship with God for the glory of God and to experience God’s love. There was no disease, death, shame, or sorrow. Loving God was at the core of all things and it was good and moral. However, that all changed when man used the free will God had so graciously provided to disobey God.

That moment of disobedience, or the fall, is when sin came into the world. With sin came selfishness and crimes against God. Sin also broke man’s perfect fellowship with God and brought death into the world. These sins separate us from a perfect and holy God.

 SIN & FORGIVENESS

Our sin is the problem that corrupts the world and everything in it and we are powerless to overcome our sin apart from Jesus Christ. Our attempts to control the situation only increase the chaos around us and within us. That is why we need healing from sin.

In spite of our sin, we can know God and be healed back into a right relationship with Him. You can know God personally. The Creator of the universe made you and wants an intimate relationship with you.  Jesus is the gift that offers us forgiveness and relationship with God.

The way to know the Father is through His Son: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” John 14:6.

THE GOOD NEWS

The Gospel literally translates as the “good news.” Good news usually comes when something is wrong and we need someone or something to change our circumstances. In our case, sin is the problem that corrupts our hearts, the world and everything in it. We are powerless to overcome that problem apart from Christ.

In other words, we can’t earn our own forgiveness or salvation. However, that is where Jesus comes into our lives. He lived a perfect life and died as a sacrifice for our sins. He rose from the grave to conquer sin and death. Through his sacrifice He offers us forgiveness and eternal life with Him.

This is a gift offered to each of us out of His love for us.  That is the Good News – that Jesus loves us so much He offers us forgiveness of our sins and his spirit to help us change how we live. This healing is only by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.

How to Know God’s Love

THERE IS A GOD IN HEAVEN WHO LOVES YOU AS YOU ARE AND NOT AS YOU SHOULD BE.

The heart of the human being longs for God, and logic demands divine existence. We know God must be holy and good. We see ourselves as unholy and not good. We mistakenly conclude that God is angry with us and we cannot know Him.

Good news! God’s Word tells us that He loves us as we are. That love will save us from our sin and make us what we should be as God’s children.

GOD LOVES US, NOT BECAUSE OF WHO WE ARE OR WHAT WE DO, BUT BECAUSE HE IS LOVE.

FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD, THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, THAT WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM SHALL NOT PERISH, BUT HAVE ETERNAL LIFE.

 – JOHN 3:16

We hear Jesus say, “God so loved the world.” God’s love has no limitations. He loves “so.” More than we can imagine. He loves everyone — not just some.

Romans 5:8 tells us that God loved us so that “when we were in our sin Christ Jesus came to die for us.”

WE NEED GOD’S LOVE BECAUSE WE ARE ALL SINNERS.

FOR ALL HAVE SINNED AND FALL SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD.

-ROMANS 3:23

This verse tells us that all people have sinned. We have fallen short of God’s intended purpose for us. God made us to know him… to receive His love and to love Him in return.

For love to be love… for God to be God… and for humans to be human… God gave us a choice. We can choose to love ourselves and turn to our selfish pursuits. That is sin, in our sin we cannot know God and his love.

The result of this sin is that we are lost… separated from God.

SIN HAS CONSEQUENCES.

FOR THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH, BUT THE FREE GIFT OF GOD IS ETERNAL LIFE IN CHRIST JESUS OUR LORD.

 – ROMANS 6:23

Wages are just payment… due reward… what one has coming because of labor. The just payment for our sin is death.

Death here means spiritual insensitivity. When we are still in our sin, we have no life with God. We are alive physically but dead spiritually. If we continue in that condition, we will be separated from God for all eternity.

The wages of sin is death, but God’s free gift is eternal life.

How can God remain true to His holiness and forgive unholy sinners? Jesus, His Son, has paid the price for sin by His death on the cross.

2 Corinthians 5.21 says, “He who knew no sin became sin for us, that we may be made the righteousness of God through Him.”

Jesus arose from the grave to conquer sin and death for all who receive Him as God’s free gift.

YOU CAN YOU RECEIVE GOD’S FREE GIFT OF LOVE AND LIFE!

THAT IF YOU CONFESS WITH YOUR MOUTH JESUS AS LORD, AND BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART THAT GOD RAISED HIM FROM THE DEAD, YOU WILL BE SAVED: FOR WITH THE HEART A PERSON BELIEVES, RESULTING IN RIGHTEOUSNESS, AND WITH THE MOUTH HE CONFESSES, RESULTING IN SALVATION.

 – ROMANS 10:9-10

A person receives God’s free gift of love and life by placing faith in Jesus Christ. To believe is simply to take God at His word. With our heart (whole being) we believe that Jesus is God’s Son who died for our sin on the cross and arose from the grave to live in us as Savior and Lord.

To believe in Jesus will result in confessing that faith with one’s mouth.
